The red cedar tree, also called the eastern red cedar, is formally known as Juniperus virginiana. The tree is a member of the timber tree of the Cypress family and is found east of the Rockies in the United States. This evergreen ornamental tree provides shelter for birds and mammals during winter. It has beautiful reddish-brown bark and small cones which birds and other animals eat.
